Skyin in the Orchard

In the early spring, the Skyin gather in big herds and come to the lower extent of their range, near where the cliff mouths open into the Indus valley. They sleep on the cliffs at night, drink from the cold stream, and find the tiny fresh wild greens to eat. These greens find the warmth to sprout at lower climes, and then as May progresses they sprout further and further up the mountain valleys and slopes.

Near our home in the Gongma, it’s our job to chase them out of the orchard fields.

We water that alfalfa, and it’s for our cows.
